    City of Essarts-en-Bocage

This small town is best known for its castle (Le Château des Essarts), the ruins of which remain well preserved to this day. The town is in the heart of the bocage Vendéen, a region that is sometimes subtly undulating and offers many walking trails, accessible to all levels. It is also a gateway to beautiful landscapes and vast meadows, where you can enjoy a breath of fresh air. To taste the local gastronomy, the market is held every Wednesday. If you wander through the narrow streets of the town centre, you will have the opportunity to discover the Parc Saint-Michel, a vast area of over 6 hectares housing a sumptuous manor house. Ideal for family outings over a picnic. You can also admire the Romanesque church of St-Pierre des Essarts.

    Castle of Les Essarts

Are you looking for an outing that will delight the whole family? Go to the Château des Essarts! A real leisure park, the castle offers a whole range of fun activities based on the History of France and the History of the Vendée. Located only 1 km from the campsite (15 minutes on foot), the Old Castle of Essarts saw its first stones take place in the Gallo-Roman era. Today, a part of the castle is still visible, the original building having suffered the numerous Vendée wars over the years. Since 2002, it has been possible to visit the site and admire the remains. Animations and guided tours are offered. Outside, no less than 25 hectares of greenery await you: this magnificent landscaped park dating from the 19th century is home to numerous species of trees (lime, chestnut, cypress…), most of which have survived the decades. Old-fashioned games are available on the course. Other events and activities are offered from April to September.
